Passenger Revealed

So the top secret rating has finally expired on this file, so we can share it a little more openly. This is my little passenger I've been carrying around for the last 15 weeks. Dan and I went for the ultrasound today. The little guy wasn't facing the right way for truly fabulous pictures and there was only so much strenuous poking I could take on a semi-full bladder to try to make him move. This lovely view is close to a profile with the head to the left and maybe a trace of knee visible to the right. He's lying on his back in the picture (in real life, the feet were pointed down and he was facing my spine).

I tend to call the passenger "he" even though we have no idea of the sex. I just don't like using "it." According to the sonographer's notes, head, brain, spine, chest, abdominal wall, extremities and skeleton check out a-ok. There was also a nice heartbeat. It was cool seeing him move in there - both heartbeat and the occasional "stop poking me" squirm. This pic shows the skull bones a bit better, with an eye socket and maybe tooth buds visible (he's sitting upright more or less in this photo).

I'm excited about the date for several spiffy reasons:
1. I was right about how far along I was (is it wrong to like being right?)
2. My due date is October 31 (who's gonna be the baby's b-day buddy, all you Girl Scouts?)
3. If I'm at 15 weeks, that means the stupid food aversions and ridiculous napping should be almost through. I'll be able to eat onions, cooked tomatoes and spiciness again. I might even be able to stomach opening the frige.
4. Due date should provide enough time to do all the paperwork necessary to bring the baby home at Christmas.

Short post this time, but if you have questions, leave them and I'll see what I can do about answering in future.

PS: Keep my mom in your prayers. She's in the hospital again (hopefully brief) to remove a bit more of the tumor. We're hoping her chemo can start soon, perhaps as soon as I get to Ohio, so no more little tumors will pop up.

Congratulations on your new blessing from God. You and Dan are going to be great parents!

Your mom can hardly wait to see you. Amanda is also anxious for her big sister to be home. I've been with her this week. We have a doctor appt. tomorrow (Monday 19th) to see if she is getting her staples out. She is anxious to take a shower and wash her hair.

Take care of baby, sleep, eat and sleep eat some more. (while you can)

love you. Aunt Barbara
