Hostess Penny

Penny is now prepared to be the hostess with the most-est. Our little friend Eliana gave her a tea set for her birthday and she straight-away set about having tea with her friends. She makes sure everyone has their cups and saucers, then gives them spoons with which to sip their tea. By the time cousin Christopher came over to visit, she had perfected her technique, even including a picnic blanket on which to enjoy the tea break. Since both she and Christopher are English, it seems a fitting activity for them to share together.

Penny was so excited about tea-time that she wanted to commemorate the event on film. This composition shows not only the tasty beverage being served, but the toes of the hostess as she immortalized the event. She is getting to be quite the little photographer. She especially liked photographing her stuffed friend Zoe. I just love how she says the name, it's so cute.

Grandma gave Penny a great bucket of pretend food so she can also prepare some hors d'oevres to accompany tea time. Here she is preparing some vienna sausages (ok, they're hot dogs) on her makeshift griddle at the entrance to the kitchen. Dad made sure that she toasted the buns alongside. We got a nice pot to boil them in shortly after this image was captured, but the chef had wandered off to tend to her guests at that point.

Sadly, I don't have any images from her birthday party. Dan and I were each hosting - he with food prep and me with cleanup (since I was coming down with a cold that day). He did an awesome job with the cake, which I'll have to post later. It was an architectural as well as aesthetic feat to behold. For now, I must get some rest so I can fight off these blasted germs. Wish me luck!
